Bacteriostatic Water is a sterile, non-pyrogenic solution containing Sterile Water for Injection and 0.9% benzyl alcohol as a bacteriostatic preservative. It is commonly used as a multi-dose diluent for the reconstitution of compatible medications and research compounds.
The addition of benzyl alcohol helps inhibit bacterial growth after repeated vial entry, allowing the vial to be used multiple times when proper aseptic technique is followed. Unlike sterile water for injection, bacteriostatic water contains an antimicrobial preservative that supports repeated withdrawals from the same vial.
Each 10mL vial is sterile, clear, and colorless. Use only with products for which bacteriostatic water is recommended, and always follow appropriate handling and storage procedures to maintain sterility.
